We are in need of the following:
BIOS/Kernel Developer

Firmware engineer for embedded Linux kernel development and system debug/integration.
Develop and maintain the Linux Kernel and operating system on a variety of embedded printer/scanner platforms. This job also includes a large amount of system debug and integration for the entire embedded system, including high level applications, custom device drivers, open source libraries and drivers, all the way down to the Linux kernel.

Responsibilities include debugging a large variety of complex system problems, analysis of memory use and performance of various code subsystems, porting the OS to new hardware platforms, and porting new versions of the OS to existing platforms. Also responsible for inventing new development tools and techniques to solve unique system problems.

Specific Job Examples:
• Debug a variety of system problems (hangs, lockups, crashes, etc)
• Port new version of the Linux kernel or glibc onto existing hardware platforms
• Port open source drivers to Lexmark hardware
• Analyze and reduce memory and cpu use of various subsystems
• Assist other firmware development teams with problem debug
• Write drivers & tools to aid in system debug

Requirements:• BS / MS in Electrical Engineering, Computer Engineering, or Computer Science.
• Must have at least 2 years experience working with the Linux kernel & device drivers or 1+ years of embedded development experience within Lexmark.
• Excellent debugging skills and techniques
• Strong understanding of virtual memory concepts
• Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
• Strong C programming skills and experience.
• Experience with ARM & PPC assembler is a plus
• Able to dig through unfamiliar code to debug system issues
• Understanding of microprocessor architectures and logic design concepts
• Able to understand and work with code that has little or no formal documentation
• Experience with writing & debugging multi-threaded applications is preferred
